东西，原名田代琳，1966年出生于广西天峨县，著有长篇小说《篡改的命》《后悔录》《 耳光响亮》，中短篇小说《没有语言的生活》《 我们的父亲》《私了》等，曾获首届鲁迅文学奖、第十届“庄重文文学奖”、第四届华语传媒盛典“2005年度小说家”奖、第六届“花城文学奖.杰出作家奖”、第十七届百花文学奖等，多部作品改编为影视剧，部分作品被翻译为英文、法文、俄文、德文、韩文、意大利文、日文、越南文、希腊文、泰文和柬埔寨文。现居南宁。
